![]() ![]() But maybe Gai Matio really had been training them all the time, if Neji and Tenten could come back from a five-day trek and still be prepared to go out again within an hour. Hinata had assumed half the time when Neji had said he was working with his team he had actually been lazing somewhere tending to the stupid birds he was so found of. He had watched as Neji and Tenten shed their travel packs, repacking their body pouches with weapons and gear with easy practise. “Just desertion of duty, betrayal and potential manslaughter-“Ģ.) Hinata hadn’t gone home after he begrudgingly delivered the message to his cousin. “I suppose we don’t need to add attempted murder to his crime list then,” Tenten said grimly. We were yelling and set off an avalanche near those weird carved statues, Sasuke used the Chidori to stop them hitting us but he lost his balance and I got the hit with the last few seconds of it…I think.” She trailed off with a confused look, hoping they’d take her words as honest confusion. “It’s hard to remember right,” she stalled. Shikako glanced down at her barely scabbed over injuries. “Naruto thought he saw Sasuke hit you when you were just talking, but he couldn’t have, the chidori makes more damage-“ “How did you get your wound,” Sakura demanded, looking over Naruto’s shoulder. But she didn’t really care, just glad the group had worked out how to all travel together. ![]() She had no clue which one was the shadow clone. Shikako glanced between the Naruto carrying her and the one carrying Sakura. She gave Shikako a sharp look when she saw the Nara was awake. ![]() “What did we stop for? Is everything okay?” she demanded, still covered in blood and mud. I thought I had seen you get- but I must have been wrong!” Naruto shifted uneasily, jostling ShikakoĪnother Naruto landed on the branch across from them, Sakura on his back. You were lying amongst some boulders right by the river edge. We couldn’t find you until Neji and Tenten got there. “Sakura knocked Sasuke out and tied him up, then woke me up. ![]() “Status report?” she asked half-heartedly. He seemed in one piece, though with bandages over his chest and arms. Shikako raised her head slightly to get a better look at Sasuke. “Be grateful her main wound looks worse than it is, it’s a miracle none of her organs were hit. Sasuke was unconscious on a stretcher made of branches and bandages. “I can’t do much for her while on the go, Uzumaki.” Neji’s voice said as he and Tenten landed next to him on the branch. “Neji! Can you heal her now?” Naruto called back behind him. Naruto didn’t leap off the next branch he landed on, the abrupt halt causing jostling that hurt Shikako’s injuries. Kiba had been an excellent battle partner to Sakura, obeying and adjusting in the thick of battle, but had become less stable when Akumare was almost killed. Sakura had been the main driving force behind Kidomaru’s defeat, able to get the upper hand when he understermaded them, while Shikako had been more focused on just getting past him. Sakura had really impressed Shikako on this mission, revelling a rage beneath her sorrow that was incredibly useful with her excellent chakra control. “I wanted to go back the faster way but Sakura said we had to retrace our steps in case more backup is sent-“ Naruto answered loudly, making her wince. Some sort of cream had been put on the burns but not rubbed in enough to actually do any good. Shikako glanced at her stomach, her shirt torn open at the bottom to expose the grizzly burn marks on it. There was sun coming in weakly from between the thick foliage above them, signalling it had been at least three hours since she had briefly regained consciousness. Naruto wase tree jumping from branch to branch and Shikako could hear two, maybe three other sets of feet behind them. Shikako looked away, focusing on their surroundings. “What are you talking about?” Big blue eyes peered down at her in innocent confusion. “And when Sasuke takes off again, then what? We go through all this trouble again, and again?” “Great,” Shikako muttered, reluctantly opening her eyes. “Ne ne, Shikako- We did it, we stopped Sasuke,” Naruto’s voice continued undaunted, “I fought him and then Sakura punched him and now we’re all going home!” Naruto said cheerfully, “It’s over.” “Shhhh,” Shikako tried to turn over and cover her head, but all she managed to do was rub her face in a gross sweaty jacket, acidic smell attached to it. Her stomach hurt but then so did the rest of her, pain rolling over her with every smooth jump the person carrying her took. 1.) Shikako regained consciousness while on the move, someone carrying her in their arms. ![]()
